Dear Api-Listers:

I would to add an anecdote complementing those valuable comments by Trini, Antonio, and others.
In late 1980’s, a Cuban engineer –Luis Fabré (he still lives in Cuba)- visited me at my office in Havana and, for my surprise, told me that he was alive thanks to propolis and to reading my first book “El propóleo, un Valioso Producto Apícola" (1979) [“Propolis, A Valuable Bee Product”].

Mr. Fabré told me that he worked for several years in Angola and he got malaria, he was very seriously sick and doctors said that he would die from his lasting, nonstopable fever and from many other malaria-associated complications present in several of his organs.

Then he started taking raw propolis and shortly later he could survive and have a remission of many of his disorders. Mr. Fabré could continue his professional life and as soon as he returned to Cuba we met and he became a strong supporter of Apitherapy.

This anecdote reminds me that malaria is one of main causes of death in Africa and that in that continent an excellent quality propolis is obtained…

Best regards to all of you,
Dr. Moisés Asís
